Theatrical Poster Analysis

This poster is very unconventional and fresh compared to other, modern film posters. There is no people on the cover, allowing it to focus on the ideologies behind the film and nothing else. The main draw on the poster is that of the worn in snare drum and the two bloodied drum sticks. These two images are action codes, connoting to the audience that this will be a 'brutal' film (for the genre). The state of the objects also creates an enigma code of how this happened or why these objects are in the state that they are. Furthermore, the poster doesn't use the star names of the film to draw an audience. Instead, the poster uses quotes from reviews to allow its audience to know that this is a film that is worth going to see.

DVD Cover Analysis

Much like the poster, the DVD cover is also very unconventional of modern films. Instead of going to normal route of focusing on narrative and characters, the cover largely focuses on the major accolades of the film.
