The image
The Daily Mail have used a very similar image to The Times newspaper in which Donald Trump is gesturing what looks similar to the black power movement hand sign. Although it is safe to assume that this was not intended by the President, I do believe that this image was chosen deliberately because of the similarities and the irony considering his outspoken views on people of colour.
Moreover, in the image, Donald Trump looks unsure and apprehensive. This possibly is a reflection of how the country as a whole feels as a result of this new leadership. It may also infer that Trump did not actually expect to win the election and is now in shock at the responsibilities that he has. In my opinion, this is a subdued way of showing how Trump lacks in leadership qualities needed for a President. He is not proud, or strong but appears weak and uncertain.
The copy
Unlike other newspaper front covers surrounding this event, The Daily Mail have done with more equal balance between image and copy. The paper have chosen to have quite a lengthy section of copy above-the-fold with "An electrifying human drama and a seismic election creating shockwaves on both sides of the Atlantic". this implies that the newspaper has a lot to say and suggests that this has a lot of importance.
