Liesbet Van Zoonen's Representation Feminism is the idea that the display of women's bodies as objects to be looked at is a core element of western patriarchal culture, which can be recognised in both advertisements and popular media texts. However, I'm going to focus on a very specific area of Van Zoonen's theory: the objectification of both men and women in a pluralistic environment such as social media.
