Asian Stereotypes In Media

This film from the 80s, conveys an eastern asian stereotype of an asian child, known as "Data" who is presented as being smarter than most of the other characters, as he uses many gadgets that were created by him, emphasising his intelligence, which adds to the stereotype that most asians are smart and know how to make advanced electronics which is a stereotype enforced my the amount of electronic products made in China. Even the name "Data" is enforcing the stereotype as it suggests the character is knowledgeable and knows a lot of 'data'.
