Attitude representation of Old Age:

With the representation of Old Age, it is not that many stories, as it mostly focuses on younger generation, where all the stories talk about young people and their success within the LGBTQ+ community. One example of this is in the home page, where mostly old people are represented as being traditionalist people, which they have a stricter lifestyle as being part of the LGBTQ+ community was very rare and people in the past was in prison and know when the media heavily popularised the LGBTQ+, it become the norm of it.

One story is about Vivenne Westwood CEO was accuses of being homophobic bullying as Boy George and others speak out: ‘Vivienne was f*king more than that’

It talks about the criticism of him being homophobic and how he has made nicknames to call them by like for example ‘Mary Fairy’ and called the shop ‘too gay’.

The magazine itself uses images which is edited to cross out his face, to shows how his behaviour is not acceptable in society and how shows his ideologies are not agreeing with the LGBTQ+ community and how people have accused as not being open-minded about the community.

Another example is from Boy George, where he has stated ‘Who cares what he’s said, because it doesn’t change who she was’, which shows how George is trying to underline the situation and trying to show that Vivenne is an idol in the fashion industry and some comments shouldn’t be taken too seriously.

This shows the ideologies of old people might not want to part of modern-day society, where LGBTQ+ people are accepted into the community, as they are part of a society, where old traditions are better for the society.

With Straut Halls reception theory, it shows how old people are like the antagonists, where they don’t support the LGBTQ+ as one example of this is Donald Trumps’ story, where he cancels 68 research grants which are focussing on LGBTQ+ Health.

Where it shows how they state that LGBT cancer is different to normal cancer, as it is describes itself as how LGBT is deadly as they are connoting the word ‘Cancer’ to shows how harmful it is.
