Audience appeals

i chose to do the 2013 diet coke advert as this ad stereotypes men, by the use of showing him doing the task of cutting the grass shirtless, with a group of woman watching on, this is

commonly associated in sometimes sexualising men as this is deemed to be a labouring job, which most people would argue it is stereotypical and could easily be said that the ad is

setting back time other than letting us a society move forward. The stereotypes of women in

the ad are challenged as the typical conventions of women showing them to make the first move, which is majority argued that this is uncommon for women, as normally the man is the

‘leader'.this ad reinforces gender stereotypes from that of the 20th century leading the primary target audience to be that of men and women in their late teens/early 20s as this would show the ad to reverse the Stereotypes of women showing how times are changing and how something so simple like a can if Diet Coke can have significant impact on relationships. The song in the background also reinforces old stereotypes and collates new ideologies of women becoming more confident

The next media product I chose to focus on was the Harry Styles vogue cover from December 2020. As this depicts how far along in society we have came and that their should be no fear in dressing in whatever we want despite peoples opinions and what conforms to societys veiws nowadays. This would appeal to younger and older audiences as this would relat the message it is okay to be who you are and dress how you want regardless of gender. It shows Styles, someone who is heavily influential due to fame wishing the music industry and how we know he was potentially stopped from being allowed to express his sexuality shows young people and older people that it is possible to do what you want to achieve. an older target audience Can be reached to educate and show how our society is changing and it is normal unlike it would of been years back
