Audience representations

Media diary, year 12.

The first advertisement I chose to use is the Tiffanys 'ABOUT LOVE' advert which stars a-list celebrities and couple Jay-z and Beyonce. The use of two well-known, international artists already gives the brand a higher level of prestige, especially the use of Beyonce, who is one of the most famous women in the world and has a net worth of over 500 million dollars. This makes the aspirers (customers) more likely to want to buy the product, as it would make them feel like they are also on a similar level to these stars as they can also afford the products. It could also fit in for materialistic consumers, as Tiffany's is known for its prestigious highly expensive products. Finally, using a happily married couple like Beyonce and Jay-z may make customers believe that if they shop from this brand for their significant other, they may also one day be as happy and successful as they appear to be in the advertisement. The sound used in the advert is also a very calming, traditional type of song, which reinforces Tiffany's as a classy brand.

For my second advertisement, I chose the Valentino handbag advert starring Florence Pugh. This advert clearly presents an ideology of Valentino being fun and bright, signified by Pugh;s happy face and the bright pink she is holding on her shoulder. The code of 'I mean... It's rockstud!' adds a sense of humour to the advert, as it is telling the audience that customers are excited about the design of the bag having studs on. This is clearly emphasised by the exclamation mark. The simplicity of the advert also creates a sense that Valentino doesn't need a dramatic, overdone set to sell it's bag- the focus is the bag. The use of using a celebrity like Florence Pugh also creates the ideology that the bag is made for wholesome, fun people who like to experience things in the world (any prior knowledge of Florence tells you that she is exactly this kind of person.) The small Valentino logo in the top right corner also serves as a reminder that Valentino is still a luxury well known brand and that their products are excellent quality and should definitely be bought.
