'Black Mirror' creator Charlie Brooker was born in Reading on March 3rd 1971, his upbringing with his family is crucial to his love of TV shows as his parents were massive fans of the show 'Bewitched' and him and his sister Samantha are named after characters from the show. Alongside 'Black Mirror', Charlie has dabbled in creating other Comedy TV shows like 'Brass Eye', 'The 11 O'clock Show', and 'Nathan Barley'. This typical format of his shows is very unusual as he doesn't just stick with Comedies, but he also dabbles in Satire with shows like 'How TV ruined your life'. This broad and vast selection of genres shows that Charlie has a very understandable account of genres and knows how to work in specific places. This is why in his shows they always associate with mystery as well as terror because the majority of the shows that he works on have negative tones which is why they fit within the genre. This is why in Black Mirror the look and feel of the show is dark and uncanny because it fits in with a genre that Charlie knows best.
In this interview of Charlie Brooker on Black Mirror, he talks about the cast, and by how he describes their relationship it seems to be positive and very light hearted. It seems that they have friendly banter between them which creates an overall positive work environment for the show as a whole. The shows themes also reflect in Charlie's character as a whole as the dark tone also reflects in his dark humour towards other people despite being a positive guy in the interview. The collaborator for the interview was the BAFTAS which is the most well known Media award show in the UK, so it is no wonder the interview is in very high production with its audio and camerawork. The choice of location is also genius in the interview as the choose to interview Charlie by 'Loch Henry' Lake in Scotland which is most famous for its 'Loch Ness Monster sightings'. By having the interview there, the mysterious tone surrounds Charlie wherever he goes even to the point of his normal day to day life.
