Canal+


Canal+ (which means 'Channel Plus' in French) is a French TV channel launched in 1984. It is owned by the Canal+ Group who are then owned by Vivendi. It offers both free to view and pay to view television. they offer a wide range of content from original French TV shows and also many international shows from the UK, US and other countries. Furthermore, there is a wide range of other Canal+ channels such as channels dedicated to films (Canal+ Cinema), sport (Canal+ Sport), news (CNews) and music and reality TV (CStar) and more.


Canal+ also has several international versions with the brand being used around the world such as Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, Poland in Europe and Canal+ also has a presence in Africa.


Canal+ originally launched in 1984 as a subscription television channel to offer the French public an alternative to the comedies and variety shows typically featured on the three government channels.


The Canal+ group had a total revenue of €5.25 billion in 2017.
