The daily star mast head is one of the most noticeable ones in the newspaper industry. It shows power and solidarity because the writing is in white block capitals and the background is red, the writing is also spiky which suggests that the paper is almost untouchable by other contenders. Also in the mast head it says "10p more cheaper than the sun and a lot more fun". so it calls them-self better than other newspapers on the front page.

The headlines for this newspaper are colloquial and not formal like so many newspapers out there. "specsy" a play on words using sexy and providing the image of carol vorderman wearing glasses.

The main image that the audience are drawn to is the image of carol vorderman because her body has its own special column in the newspaper. This sexualises her because to the public she was just seen as a mathematician on countdown.

The layout of this newspaper is visually pleasing with the title at the top and the big blocky writing down the centre of the page. It is eye catching and draws us to the title.

"Shazza" is informal and acts as if we know Sharon Osborne well enough to call her Shazza. and also the word "specsy" is also colloquial which almost allows the audience to act like we know the people in the newspaper.

The star have used some famous personalities such as Sharon Osborne who is known for her harsh and unforgivable personality and is not afraid to speak her mind. And also carol vorderman who has stepped out of the limelight for a while and she is back looking better than before. they have used a big personality to gain publicity.

The ideologies of this paper are not very well presented on the front page and it is more like a gossip magazine because they don't actually mention current political events ans therefore don't get to present their political standpoints.
