Don Broco are an English alternative rock band from Bedford. They formed in 2008 and have been making music ever since. They are signed to the American record label, SharpTone records. The band produces songs on topics that make them angry and the target audience would probably be people who agree with those messages and may be able to relate to them. They are quite universal topics such as social media etc so they may appeal to a wider audience, people in their late teens to late 30s.
music video
The music video for T-Shirt song is a performance music video. It features footage from the live show at Alexandra Palace, which is an iconic venue in London where Don Broco are playing the song. It includes long shots of the crowd showing just how many people are there which emphasises how popular the band are. The crowd are quite rowdy with people jumping up and down, crowd surfing, mosh pits and people on other people's shoulders. The lyrics 'I take my t-shirt off swing it around my head' has become iconic to fans and during the song, as shown in the video, fans copy the lyrics.
It includes medium shots that you would expect to see of the band playing their instruments and is typical of a rock music video with them jumping all over the stage. There's also a lot of flashing lights which adds to the chaos of the video.
The video includes scenes of the band off stage also, this allows the audience to feel like they're getting behind the scenes and exclusive content. It lets the band show a different side to them perhaps a more fun side, There are clips of them dancing and laughing and they look like they really enjoy being together off stage too which could suggest a closeness of the band and represents them as very down to earth people.
magazine
The magazine cover is from Kerrang! magazine. Kerrang magazine is a British weekly magazine dedicated to genres such as rock, punk and heavy metal. The magazine feels a lot more typical as there is a lot going on and includes many other cover lines. The use of the words 'exclusive' and 'special' on the front page would make someone want to read it as it feels like they're getting content that no one else will which could appeal to dedicated music fans.
There's also smaller images of other bands in the top corner of the page which shows that the magazine wants to promote other bands and have more than just the main image as the focus.
Rob Damiani is the lead singer of Don Broco. The front cover of the image is a close up of the singer. He is looking straight into the camera and there isn't really an emotion on his face. The image is edited so it looks like there's glitches, this resembles the theme of technology which is what the album is called. The main cover line includes the album name perhaps suggesting that the magazine is promoting the album for the band.
The magazine double page spread also feels quite conventional. It talks about touring and the new album which is what fans would expect to see from a music magazine. This is a way of promoting the band and they come across as very down to earth. Part of the interview talks about the band enjoying touring and also caring about their fans and wanting them to enjoy their music too. Their music is quite dark and can talk about topics that make them angry but they come across as nice people from the interview perhaps suggesting the band has many sides to them.
The interview is very long and led by the band, the talk when they want to and it doesn't feel like they are being restricted. It's not conventional of a usual interview because there's not someone to guide the interview and ask questions but it does have a chatty tone to it and it feels like you can get to know the band more this way.
The band looks serious in the images and all images are medium shots or close ups only really focusing on their faces and not body language. All 4 of them have been photographed seperately which suggests they are all as important to the band as each other. The theme of technology has been carried through to the double page feature as the images look like they have scratches or glitches on them which only a computer could do.
