Comic book movies have become very popular in recent years and Marvel, previously a Comic book industry, holds the title of highest grossing of all time with the release of Avengers Endgame (2019) the final instalment in the third phase of marvel movies.
However these movies weren't always as popular in the past, which is evident when we take a look at some of the older movies and how they did. In the 90s Marvel started the decade off with two new movies, Captain America (1990-1992) and Death of The Incredible Hulk (1990). These Movies weren't great as Captain America released late as it was supposed to launch in 1990 alongside the character's 50th anniversary, however released in 1992 straight to video, which definitely contributed towards the failure of the movie as a huge opportunity of the 50th anniversary of the character and the advertising that could've came along with it. The movie was a flop and only reached approx $10,000 at the box office and was bashed by audiences for having poor production and a dodgy approach to the character.
In addition to this the final movie based on the classic Hulk TV series, The Death of The Incredible Hulk. The poor ratings and unfortunate passing of Bill Bixby (the actor of the Hulk) led to the end of this series for good.
