This is an image from the BBC's big picture series of articles, in this article all the pictures were taken from the rural south. The articles purpose is simple, it is meant to relax people with calming, peaceful pictures of wildlife.

This picture is a long shot of a vast landscape with the vocal point being a herd of cows, the use of a long shot here helps establish a sense of scale and freedom allowing for capture of large open areas. The picture only contains peaceful wildlife like cows who are know for being quiet over animals know for making loud screeching sounds or no animals at all as having loud animals in the picture would obviously make the viewer think of that loud sound unsettling them and having no animal would make the place feel lonely and isolated. The use of lighting in this picture casts a nice warm ray of sun over the landscape allowing the image to be in full view and remind the viewer of a nice warm sunny day. The landscape itself clearly plays a part in the pictures effects, as the varied landscape full of both grass lands and wheat helps the picture create more intrigue showing how different the landscape can be. While this picture is very simple its elements perfectly get across the feeling the article wished to part to the viewer.
