Ken Loach : The Godfather of Social Realism

Ken Loach is a English film and television director . His top 3 most famous films are Poor Cow (1967) Kes (1969) and my name is joe (1998).

He captures the publics attention by his socially critical directing style and socialism . Which is evident in his film treatment of social issues. He is a highly acclaimed British Filmmaker because of his realistic , socially conscious films .Which he has been making since the 1960s and has consistently tackled subjects such as poverty , homelessness , and labor rights. People claim he had a significant impact on British and international cinema.

The most significant was arguably Loaches "Cathy Come Home". The story of a young family evicted from their home raised issues that were simply not discussed such as homelessness , unemployment , and the rights of mothers to keep their children . Filmed in real locations , with real people , the story was initially turned down for being too political - an experience Loach would have to deal with various times in his career.
