Love, Simon is a 2018 romantic comedy by 20th Century Fox, centred around a 17 year old closeted gay boy, by the name of Simon. (Played by Nick Robinson)
One day he discovers that another student has recently come out online, under the name of Blue. Simon anonymously emails him, and soon they form a strong connection, despite not knowing who the other actually is.
However when Martin, (played by Logan Miller) a fellow classmate discovers these emails, he blackmails Simon by threatening to post them online unless he agrees to help Martin win over Simon's friend, Abby. (Played by Alexandra Shipp)
Over the course of the film, Simon goes on a mission to find out who Blue is, whilst trying to keep his sexuality a secret.
The storyline is easy to follow, however still keeps the audience guessing, in regards to who Blue is. This movie's target audience is teenagers, due to the young cast and the romantic comedy genre. It is a movie that a lot of teenagers related to, hence the popularity in it's
release back in April.
Many of the cast for Love, Simon are experienced when it comes to acting in teen movies. Nick Robinson- playing Simon Spier, has previously starred in big movies such as Everything, Everything and Jurassic World. Also, Katherine Langford played the role of best friend Leah, and has starred in the hugely popular Netflix series: 13 Reasons Why.
The soundtrack contains big hits from 2018, such as Love Lies and Feel It Still. Many of the audience will be familiar with these songs, including myself, and cause them to feel more connected with the film. Personally, I believe that the songs fitted with the scenes perfectly, and really added to the feel of the film.
Overall, I believe that this is the perfect coming of age film, and I would highly recommend anyone to watch it. It entertained me from start to finish.
