Men's health magazine was created in 1987 for the purpose of informing its readership about healthy habits for men like how to eat well, self improve and most importantly achieve that dream body. Because of this focus the target audience of Men's health is most likely to be made up of Aspirers but a particular focus on celebrity builds and workouts from big established franchises also attracts a Mainstreamer audience. The article I have chosen for my first text is a good example of this, with the topic being David Corenswet's workout for his role as the new superman, which is only one of many detailed descriptions of a celebrity's workout with a entire section dedicated to it. Most the celebs chosen are huge stars or play massive roles like superhero's, with almost no actors that are not basically house hold names e.g the rock, Chris Hemsworth. This shows its dedication to the mainstreamer only detailing the work outs of house hold names bringing that sense of familiarity the mainstreamer wants. The articles actual content is a good example of Clay Shirkleys end of audiences theory not only because of the comment section allowing for the readers of this article to be active but because the article itself is a response to a response through the internet. The article responds to a video about superhero workouts in Hollywood by the some youtubers who themselves are responding to the film itself all being a very active audience.
