A movie which plays a key role in representing people of colour is Malcolm X. This film was released in 1992, and highlighted many key topics that people would avoid talking about, such as his criminal career, his incarceration, his conversion to Islam, his experiences with racism, and even his assassination. Malcolm X was looked up to by people of colour due to his popularity during the civil rights movement, which was a key event in history. In this film poster, we can see that the character is placed to be the centre of attention as he is placed in the centre of the poster inside of a large 'X'. This provides the viewers with a knowledge of who and what the movie is about instantly. Also, the letter 'X' beneath the movie title 'Malcolm X' will also be within the interest of those who were impacted by the civil rights movement and Malcolm X's popularity at the time.
