Media Diary #1: 'I Don't Know What You Did Last Summer' Homework!

Over the summer I kind of discovered myself more. I've found that I'm more of a Goth than I thought I was... Over the summer I: watched too many movies to count, listened to way too much music to count, watched Youtube Gamers, I've started getting into Anime (which may or may not be a problem: I haven't decided), I watched Pointless (the BBC gameshow) every weeknight evening with my dad (but that's always been pretty normal for us) and that's about it.
However, I've highlighted a Movie and a music Artist (who I've found recently and fallen in love with). The movie being 'Crimson Peak (2015)'. And the Artist is a band called 'Sopor Aeternus and The Ensemble Of Shadows'. Which are both very Gothic, soooooo...
The main reason why I watched 'Crimson Peak' is honestly because Tom Hiddleston is in it; and he's honestly the only person I simp for. Ever since I've been introduced to Marvel, I've slowly fallen in love with Mr Hiddleston. So I'm taking it upon myself to watch more movies that he has been cast in: Kong Skull Island, High Rise, etc. Crimson Peak (2015) falls under the Gothic/Horror/Mystery category. I am familiar with these genres, I just haven't found any others that are as good as this film. Falling toward more the Gothic route, yes it is very typical of the genre but still a very good movie; it's worth the watch. Target audience? Well the rating is 15, so I'd say either Goth, Horror and Mystery movie fans - age-wise probably between 15 to 40s. Well as you can tell I absolutley adore this movie, I told ya it's because of Tom. But also I love the Gothic genre and I believe that there should be way more Gothic films made (it's such an underrated genre).

As for 'Sopor Aeternus and The Ensemble Of Shadows'; I'll be honest, I've very recently started listening to so I don't know as much as I'd like to say. Sopor Aeternus is a Gothic Orchestral (who do sing quite often) band. I just happened to come across one of their songs and one of those Fantasy themed playlists people have uploaded on Youtube and when one of their songs came on I... let's just say something changed inside me and I started to get addicted. The target audience for this band I guess would be (to me) 15+ because some of the subtle topics (that they sing poetically) are quite severe. Although I guess under 15s can listen, they just wouldn't understand it; therefore they wouldn't enjoy it as much. All I can describe hearing their songs for the first time is that it made me think, the instrumentals are very beautiful and relaxing and melancholic. There's a very duende vibe, which I love. I can't describe how it made me feel, I felt way too many things at that moment in time. I don't think anyone else would have the same reaction, this is just me, but out of all the songs I do recommend you listen to this one: 'In Der Palastra (Instrumental)'.
