My chosen genre of music is Britpop, and the four bands I will be analysing from this are Suede, Pulp, Space, and Oasis. The other 4 bands I will be analysing are from a similar musical background though not quite Britpop and will be Keane, Stereophonics, Radiohead, and Bloc Party.
Stereophonics are a Welsh rock band formed in 1992 with lead singer Kelly Jones and are known for their songs Dakota, Maybe Tomorrow and their cover of Rod Stewarts Handbags and the Gladrags.
I will be analysing the video for their song Dakota which was written when lead singer Kelly Jones was in South Dakota, hence the name of the song. The song comes from the album Language. Violence. Sex. Other? when the band signed with V2 Records who had other bands such as The White Stripes, Underworld and Bugz in the Attic.
