Updated: Jul 3, 2018

Background

Caravan Palace is a French electro swing band based in Paris.

Music video

The narrative of the video is three anthropomorphic cats go out drinking there happens to be three anthropomorphic German Shepherds that take a disliking to the cats on the table opposite. The bouncer who is a bull tries to throw out a drunk snake for getting handsy with one of the waitresses during this one of the German Shepherds trip up one of the waitresses and she falls knocking over the cat's drinks and the club devolves into a ballroom brawl. It features two locations the strip club and the street. The video has a conventional story that is simplistic and mainly uses easy to establish stereotypes it uses music synced to the beat of the action and does not have any moments of performance.

The video represents social groups allegorically throughout the use of the anthropomorphic animals being dressed in a way that could be seen to be representing a stereotype of some social group for example the cats are dressed in track suits and trainers which could imply they are meant to represent some of the youth culture who are likely to turn aggressive after a misunderstanding and the makings of the dogs and the suits they are dress in could suggest that they are over worked men who frequent bars looking to let off some steam and relive the glory days

The video also use a variety of media language such as :

  • Wide shot

  • Close up

  • Editing on the beat

  • Extreme close ups

  • Extreme wide shots

  • Silhouette amination

  • Amination

  • Action codes

  • Enigma codes

  • Symbol codes

  • Intertextual references

Magazines

The interview has an almost transcript like feel to it but isn't of having the desired effect of making the magazine feel as though the interview is authentic but instead makes it feel fabricated as it is apparent that it is not the entirety of the bands thoughts/ opinions being represented.
