Red Dead Redemption 2 is a 2018 action-adventure game developed and published by Rockstar Games. the game is a prequel to highly successful Red Dead Redemption and follows outlaw Arthur Morgan, a member of the Van der Linde gang. Arthur is an original character and is not seen or mentioned in the previous game. However, he works closely with John Marston who was the previous protagonist and also a member of the Van der Linde gang.

The game gives the player a lot of freedom to explore and decide how they would like to play. For example, the game sometimes offers the player a chance to make a choice that will impact the story. It also offers optional missions that you can choose to complete that will sometimes offer more insight to the main character and give other rewards. However, by far the biggest way the game does this is with its honor system which will have a large impact on Arthur's morals as well as some interactions and most importantly his fate. The honor system is based on how you play and will rise and fall based on how much steal and kill the innocent.

Arthur is definitely one of the best protagonists in gaming and there are a number of reasons for this. Arthur's parents are killed early in his life and we don't learn much about them in the game. all we know is that he is taken into the gang from an early age by the leader Dutch Van der Linde who becomes in some ways his farther figure along with Hosea Matthews, another important member of the gang. This early introduction to the gang leads Arthur down a life of crime all the way up until we meet him at age 36.

This is when things in Arthur's life begin to change. The gang has a massive setback where the lose some members and the law are closing in on them. This continues throughout the game and Arthur must eventually decide if what is best for the gang is best for him. Another cause for his change is the lose he faces during the game. As the gang is slowly torn apart it creates division between Arthur and Dutch and both has their own very different paths. Finally, Arthur faces a life changing problem later on into the game that motivates him to find redemption and fix the mistakes of his past.

The game was massively successful and is one of the largest selling games in the world. It contains many messages and a big one for this game is the idea that commit crime and doing wrong will always catch up to you eventually even if it seems to be an easer way to live.
