Red Rum Club - Music Marketing

RedRum Club are an English alt-rock band formed in Crosby, Liverpool in 2014. Whilst they are a modern band, they combine electric guitars with the older fashioned Mexican trumpet in attempts of mixing old and new sounds.

Their song ‘Eleanor’ comes from their second album titled ‘The Hollow Of Humdrum’ and is a true cheery, indie love song. The upbeat sound is reinforced by the warm colour scheme, most specifically the yellow of the background, which also ties in well with the stylistic choices of the album itself - therefore helping to create a sort of connection between the two.

The video itself consists of fun and yet rather simple animations of the lyrics. Animations of the band can also be seen throughout as fans would most likely recognise who was who or simply by what instruments they are playing. The title of the song is shown at the start just after the band's name which, again most noticeable for fans of the group, follows the same typography choices as seen across their other works.

By using typical techniques that are often seen within music videos but then slightly subverting them into the rather unusual choice of the animation style helps them to stand out from the rest. The also certainly fits well into Curran & Seaton’s Industry theory as here we have an indie band who appear to be having fun and getting creative with the work they produce.

As with their music video and album, their website once again fits into the same colour scheme in order to create a sense of community and recognisability across their work.

The content f their page is very similar to most other band websites with its content ranging from social media buttons (including a glimpse of their actual Twitter feed on the page itself), blogs, tour dates and basic information on who each band member is and what instrument the play. Again, even the smaller details such as the typography are similar if not the same as used across their other content.
