Social media plays a role in self identity as it allows younger users to observe and experiment with the different behaviours. Also, those who use social media are exposed to toxic ideas, such as the ideas of 'perfection' and 'idealistic body types'. These unrealistic ideas come from photoshop and filters influencers or social media users use in their posts, which is especially bad for the users who are being exposed to these ideas at such a young age. This could also affect those who see it in a way that they change what clothes they wear, what music they listen to, and even their personality; allowing them to express themselves and find who they truly are. People who use social media may even change the way they act online by giving themselves an internet personality with the hopes of potentially fitting in. Social media also allows users to explore and experiment several different aspects.
