Muslims in nearly every form of media are represented as dangerous, the bad guys and as terrorists and the general public in western cultures believe it to be true and the fact that a lot of atrocities and terrorist attacks have been committed from groups like ISIS and Al-qaeda does not help the matter
These stereotypes are on full display in video games commonly used as bad guys or fodder to the western hero with the objective of taking down a terrorist group or leader in this case Call Of Duty 4 Modern Warfares Al-Asad who is the leader of the fictional terrorist group Opfour the scene is of a hostage in a car staring out of a car window in a middle eastern country.
We see from a POV shot the atrocities and death going on in this middle eastern country, we see innocent people being shot on the streets and oppression everywhere which is a stereotype in itself portrayed in the news especially with the war in Syria and we see these countries as backwards and corrupt.
The soldiers we see in the background all have the same uniforms on and what stands out about there red beret that we see then wear which is a semantic code as it marks them as dangerous and something to be feared and for the most part all of the civilians are wearing blue even the driver in the car who is disguised as a civilian is wearing blue this symbolises their innocence and as blue is the opposite colour to red it shows that the population is against this group and is being oppressed
