The Big Issue: Social Enterprises

These are businesses which are set up to change the world. They create jobs and opportunities for those marginalised from the work force which transforms communities they work in making sustainable development goals a reality. If the business is good, then they will gain profit and society profits.

Examples of different social enterprises:

There is a business called Butterfly Books and they sell books which tackles gender in children’s books. This was started by a Kerrine and Jason. The majority of their profits are then reinvested into their social mission to support our cause and help it grow, allowing us to produce new books to challenge gender bias in all areas of work

Another business is Community Dental Services, and they aim to ensure everybody has access to dental care. They often work with patients with mental health challenges or those experiencing homelessness.

Era 92 in an entrepreneur who want to create jobs in front tier markets to put an end on poverty and youth unemployment. Their enterprises have established finance media education and hospitality for people struggling.

The Big Issue is an example of social enterprise because their profits are reinvested back into helping vendors this can be to improve their life chances and to support them

All these businesses have used their profits into helping different social groups of people live their lives and be able to earn a living and to expand knowledge of different groups of people. A lot of people who have been given help are people living in poverty, homeless, suffer with mental health, ethnic groups and people trying to help the environment.
