The Big Issue - Vendor Agreement

To start with Big Issue vendors are given five free magazines to sell after they email or ring the company itself. The Big issue requires that its vendors portray the company in a good light so they are; not allowed to show up under the influence of any substances such as alcohol and drugs, they are not allowed to damage or slander the reputation of the company e.t.c. registered vendors are shown on their website with their age, name and location with a map on their website

When a vendor is signed up they aren't employees they are technically wholesalers and separate retailers but at the same time they are treated like employees as they have company wide rules that they have to follow or they could face being banned from selling the magazine and they have to sell on pitches that are sanctioned by the company also they have to give exact change

Vendors pay half price for the magazine and sell it for full price on the streets they have to sell the magazine on their own so they can't sell in a gathering or looking after children these rules are in place to protect the company and the vendors reputation for example if someone shows up under the influence then that damages the reputation of other vendors which could cause them to sell less copies

The vendors receive financial support from selling the magazines but they also receive support from mental health professionals education and work opportunities which can help them rehabilitate into society
