Too many ads

Updated: Dec 9

When it comes to corporate advertising, in my opinion, I have a relatively neutral opinion, as I largely ignore adverts or just tune them out when I see them. I do agree that video ads, in places like YouTube or Spotify can be infuriating, especially when it repeats the same handful of ads over and over, however I would say that it’s not annoying enough to make a huge fuss over. Some ads particularly can have an annoying jingle or phrase that upon repeated hearing annoys me, but the majority are passable. Posters and billboards I tend to not pay too much attention to. When a billboard is particularly ugly and big enough to be unavoidable, I’ll note it’s bad composition or tacky tagline, however when I’m home I won’t give it much second thought.

On the other hand, I think street art or murals can be just as equally as ugly or worse, many murals promote inappropriate themes or messages and are an eyesore. Not that company logos are beautiful in comparison, but rather they’re very meaningless or unimpactful. I think respectful and well orchestrated murals can serve as nice piece of colour contrasting with the usual grey and brown of buildings and can even become a landmark in its own right. However a lot of them, in my opinion would look better if it remained a blank place on a wall.
