Week 7 - Dave - Question Time

Updated: Mar 6, 2023

This diary will showcase the politically motivated and ideological filled music video that is Question Time by Dave. Known for his role as Modie in Netflix's remake of Top Boy, Dave is an upcoming UK rap star.

The Music video is filled with attacks on the Conservative party. The lyrics Got a question for the new Prime minister, at Grenfell tower your response was ridiculous" Dave then goes on to use his lyrics as a shock factor such as "Only hear a fraction of the pain and the the grief" and "Smile was a island in a sea full of tears" This could connote the failures of the Conservative party under Theresa May.

Dave later goes onto say "I have a question for the leader of the Labour party Jeremy Corbyn where do you want to take the country to? Honestly, I wanna put my trust in you but you can understand why because I have trust issues, do you really have the faith in your party, do you really have faith in the party that will come with you?" In this line it seems as if Dave had predicted the rebellion against Corbyn from his back benches. This line could connote the lack of choice or the failure for the two main parties to meet any young persons needs; This is reinforced by the line "And how do you plan on keeping all the promises?" - It is clear that the trust in the main parties is small.
