Paramount is a large company which produces films, tv shows and more. Paramount Pictures is a large film company worth billions of dollars, they have made films such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Mission Impossible and Iron Man.
Paramount was considered to be one of the 'Big 5' studios that ruled Hollywood. The fact that Hollywood was limited by the 'Big 5' could fit in with Curran and Seaton's theory that media concentration limits or inhibits variety, creativity, and quality.
Paramount is now owned by ViacomCBS - which is a huge conglomerate. This could reinforce the theory that the media is controlled by a small number of companies primarily driven by the logic of profit and power. However, the ViacomCBS team say, 'Viacom prides itself on innovation, creativity and the ability to bring the most compelling entertainment content to audiences worldwide. Our business thrives due to the hard work, talent, and passion of our employees, who uphold the highest standards of ethical behavior.' Paramount also follows this statement. Their statement suggests they are creative, but the control they have over many companies must limit the variety as they will have their own standpoints on different topics.
