Zoe + Stewie Hall

Stuart Hall argues that representations is the production of meaning through language defined by a system of codes and that stereotyping reduces people to a few simple characteristics.

If Stuart Hall were to have applied his views to Zoella and her website, he may have found codes that show her representation of gender. For example, Zoella's logo is a bold Z, similar to this is the logo of Vogue which is a similar fonted V. This shows her representation of gender because Vogue is a women's magazine.

Zoella uses a specific colour pallette for her site, she uses soft pastel colours that are seen as dainty and feminine, furthermore, her archive site had a scrapbooky and girly styling to it

Zoella also has clear ideologies favouring the female sex and gender due to her adamant position about her sex and health section as she remained posting about it despite being removed from the GCSE syllabus. In this tweet you can see her actively say "we are a team of women who all share a joint passion for other women" showing that she holds relatively feminist views.
