Christmas Advertisements: Are real adverts over?

Christmas Adverts are probably one of the most generic but expected part of a company. From John Lewis to Aldi, Christmas advertisements has became a staple of British TV. They usually promote a festive ideology such as family as a way to relate to it's audiences aswell as do what an advertisement does, promote the company.

However this year, Coca Cola took a very different approach to the typical ads by using AI instead of real actors. The "Real Magic" at the end of the advertisement is very ironic considering there is nothing real about the 2 second, overally fake clips. The specific advertisement I chose doesn't involve the obvious fake humans, but instead contains fake polar bears.

The fact the advertisement was made by AI and not by real people loses the touch that Christmas adverts uphold. And it isn't a surprise that a comment making fun of this advert gained more likes than the video itself.

Are companies starting to realise that the effort of handling real Christmas adverts simply too much? Will companies start choosing AI over real actors, and lose the 'chrismas spirit'?

The advert gained tons of attention however despite being negative, Coca Cola is still the most popular drinks in the world. Proving that unfortunately, the harsh reality is that companies might and can start to make cheap knock off of its adverts with little effect on their profits.
