Like vogue, cosmopolitan is an American magazine which publishes monthly with content based on fashion and entertainment magazine mainly targeted towards women. When founded in march 1886, it originally was a family magazine which later transformed into a literacy based one and then into the one we know and love today with Jessica pels being the editor of chief, Cosmo (what cosmopolitan is often referred to as) has 64 international editions and is printed in 35 different languages and contains segments on celebrities, fashion, beauty, careers, horoscopes and many more. cosmopolitan has always been the intended target of women as the decades have gone on their articles have evolved with the times as when it was branded a family magazine these now beauty and fashion articles used to be management of children, house decorating and cooking. Cosmopolitan magazine would most likely target the mainstreamers from the 4cs.
in this edition of cosmopolitan it features little mix, a British girl group who where well known for their close friendships out of performing and self positive messages they give out to their fans. Cosmo is well known for having big celebrities on their front cover such as Kim Kardashian, Blake lively and Amanda Seyfreid. the singers cover the entirety of the front cover showing their status within the music industry and their success. in this particular edition of the magazine we see a more stripped back, more natural version of the girls implying that the beauty element of this magazine isn't necessarily held to your average 'celebrity' standard. the theme of this issue tends to be quite neutral too fitting in with the stripped back theme as the lettering and colours are not as bold as most front covers. the font and colour alternates on the front cover for example beauty trends are in a bold white font yet things such as entertainment and first dates are in a dusky pink colour this could be intentional to suggest what cosmopolitan believes people will be more enticed to read in the magazine. the front cover also snippets what we can see from the main cover stars of the editions with an article about little mixes private lives. this is popular for magazines to have a somewhat gossipy element to their magazine yet it can also be quite misleading as it is not so much branded as private. having the subheading below 'the private lives of little mix' being 'are way naughtier than you think' sets a tone to the magazine also saying to the reader carry on reading to find out more whilst using colloquial language like the words 'way naughtier'. the cover also includes a price and a specific page number for each article something which is common for magazines to do. Cosmo also have their writers of the articles take part in the subject they are talking about, this shows honesty ang gives the readers a first hand opinion on certain topics branding Cosmo as 'reliable'.
the cosmopolitan website again, focuses on the same ideologies as the magazine and features celebrities on the very homepage like Kylie Jenner and her popular met gala looks. it also has a different section for each focused category that cosmopolitan writes articles on making it easer for readers to navigate. they also have extra articles about celebrities and their day to day lives talking about their most recent Instagram posts and what makes them so special. for example these articles on leigh anne pinnock from little mix and her 'epic fails' and no makeup selfies, giving the website a more colloquial tone.
