GQ Magazine is an American and international monthly men’s magazine which was founded in New York in 1931. The magazine covers a variety of topics such as fashion, lifestyle, celebrities and fitness.
Magazine Analysis
The magazine features the Canadian singer Abel Tesfaye, known as The Weeknd, taken in a full body shot. The Weeknd’s body language appears to be chic and confident, giving the idea that the magazine is more up-market. From this, we can see that the target audience for this magazine is men over the age of 20-25, due to the brands being promoted, as many younger people cannot afford the luxurious brands being mentioned and advertised in the issue. We can see that the magazine reaches out to a more international audience in this issue, with the cover line “universal language of music” and “emerging artists from around the world. The magazine discussing topics which differs across the world and including them all in one brings a sense of togetherness, and allows a more global readership amongst the magazine. The simple colour scheme and would stereotypically appeal to men than woman.
