Lady Bird (2017)

Lady Bird (2017) is a phenomenal A24 production. The film is one of if not my favourite A24 film, one of the reasons for this being is the phenomenal visuals throughout the film. The films visuals perfectly capture the characters adolescence throughout the film in this coming-of-age story. The film is humorous and graceful, yet heart felt as it leaves viewers flooded with tears and emotions by the end of it. The film is written and directed by Greta Gergwin who stated that some aspects of the film are based on her own coming of age story. This tells us that the film is a very personal one to Gergwin due to it having aspects of her own life and I think these shines through on to the big screen as you can feel the emotion and the depth felt behind each character as the story feels relatable, as we feel as if we know someone exactly like each character in the film.

The main protagonist of the film Christine "Lady Bird" is excellently performed by the talented and gifted actress Saoirse Ronan as she comes across seemingly awkward and introverted, she blossoms throughout the film growing into a grown independent woman by the end of the film. One of the reason this film personally affected me is because it gave me a different way to view life and how I act day by day. I think that this film matured me and made me realise the true things what need to be cherished in life like family and friends. As I mentioned earlier the sense of relatability in this film comes through as we can all probably see parts of ourselves in the protagonist of the film.

The visuals of this film are amazing and that us was A24 drives itself to be, and this film definitely lived up to the visually stunning expectations set through the company. The film is immersive as it draws its viewer in as its offbeat sense of humour and setting is like nothing ever seen before. The pacing of the film set by Gergwin and an eye for detail is what makes the movie great. I will forever be a fan of A24's films mainly due to this film and many others as they really set themselves apart from other with their different take on cinema
