Blumhouse productions is an American film and television production company founded by Jason Blum in 2000. its most known produced films are horror films such as The Purge, split, get out, Halloween (2018), Us, The Invisible Man (2020) and many more iconic horror films. Most of Blumhouses' in house releases since 2014 are owned and distributed by Universal Pictures as part of a ten year first look deal.

Blumhouses company model is to produce high quality films on low budgets, to give directors creative freedom and to release films widely through the studio system. Blumhouse was originally known as Blum Isreal productions, with Amy Isreal with a first look deal at Miramax when the company was first founded. the two parted ways in 2002 and it became known as Blumhouse Productions.

Their low budget model began in 2007 with the production and release of Paranormal Activity, which was made for £15,000 and grossed over £193 million worldwide. it also produced Insidious, which grossed over £100 million worldwide on a budget of £1.5 million.

Blumhouse have also been crossing multimedia industries, with the 'blumhouse of horrors' (interactive horror experience in LA) being opened in 2012, Blumhouse books being launched in 2014, and in february 2023 they launched Blumhouse games, to produce and distribute horror based video games. the division will partner with other independant game developers and create games with a budget of under £10 million.

Blumhouse are considered the driving force behind horror as a modern day genre, however they defy Curran and Seatons belief that large, multimedia companies lack the ability to produce creative products, having been the producer of iconic horror movies such as the Halloween franchise, Get Out directed by Jordan Peele, and M3GAN, a 2023 horror film directed by Gerard Jhonstone. they are a large company that span multimedia industries, but they create unique and diverse films with a small budget as per their ethos.
