Miracle Musical was a music project created by Joe Hawley, who was a former member of the band Tally Hall, in which other former members helped out with the project. Such as drummer Ross Federman and singers Rob Cantor and Zubin Sedghi. Only one album was released, being Hawaii: Part II on the 12th of December 2012 at 12:12am. The Song Labyrinth is the eighth song on the album, which was performed by Shane Mayx and Charlene Kaye. The music video was released on the date 12/13/14 and was animated by Ben Luce. A tie-in video game was created based on the song by Wonderfling Studios with 8-bit recreations of the albums songs serving as the soundtrack.

The music video revolves around the narrative of rapper Shane Maux’s lyrics as he details that the events in his life make him feel like he is trapped in a metaphorical labyrinth he has to navigate.

Throughout the music video he is being watched by this mysterious figure who sings the chorus telling Shane that he is trapped inside this “game.” It creates a sense of isolation and helplessness as he is being watched yet offered no assistance to defeat his metaphorical demons made literal in the video game setting animated in an 8-bit artstyle.

After he navigates the maze and reaches the tower to save his “girlfriend,” who serves as the stereotypical princess to be saved. It is revealed that he is trapped inside a portable game console and that the voyeuristic figure was a little girl who was playing the game. It creates a sense that his accomplishments were pointless and not real as we see the real life version of Shane who loses his girlfriend as she leaves with one of the demons he had to face.

The real world is still animated in 8-bit creating a sense that his mission is still incomplete and that at the end of the day he is still stuck in this cycle.
