Pylot magazine is a relatively new independent fashion magazine and has a commitment to no airbrushing, photoshopping or beauty re-touching of any kind. Which is unconventional of a mainstream fashion magazine but a necessary step forward. The magazine also aims to address the negative effects of the increasingly unattainable standards of beauty in the media.
Front cover - The thing that really stands out to me from this cover is how quickly the audience takes in the magazines ideologies and message by just a quick glance due to the only copy on the screen being the Masthead and "celebrating Analogue fashion photography with zero beauty retouching" this appears to be the magazines strapline however it isn't funny or a pun like most fashion magazines its straight to the point which i think is what the whole magazine is like - it doesn't sugar coat anything just gives it to you as it is. We can see this idea of challenging beauty standards with firstly the model being male which is stereotypically unconventional of a fashion magazine and the fact that he is wearing clothes that we wouldn't see in a more mainstream magazine. The pink background also does this as most magazines when featuring a male will use masculine colours which is not the case here. The lack of cover lines also shows us how the fashion photography is the main image, it does not want our attention elsewhere.
Audio visual - Pylot does not have a large presence of social media adding to the authenticity of the magazine and its ideologies of not conforming to media standards. However there are a few videos on YouTube linked to the magazine. For example this video of Kojey Radical rapping in a empty room. This video is very raw and some may think it has a amateur feel to it. however i think that the sudden flashes of the Pylot masthead and the subtle but effective editing technique make it powerful and professional. We can tell from the setup of a video that it is trying to convey a message weather that is through the lyrics in the rap or the editing we know Pylot hasn't just released this just because. It ties in with their ideologies that the standard of the media today needs to change.
