Representation of Hate Crime

Hate crime is where crimes are motivated by hatred and prejudge towards minority groups, for example religion, race, sexual orientation, and disability.

The two examples that I am going to use is a video and another media product that I am going to use is a Documentary Tv show.

George Floyd was an African American man who was murdered by a police officer in Minneapolis. The reason why she was arrested is because George Floyd was suspected that he was trying to buy someone stuff with counterfeit money, so then the police officer came to his car and arrested him and when he fell, the police thought that he was being silly so he used his knee and put it on his neck and George Floyd stated that ‘I can’t breathe’. This outraged the community and people protest about the killing of George Floyd and they use the term #BLM (Black Lives Matter), as this was a racially motivated attack on George Floyd. The police officer who were involved in this scene for both fired and arrested. Former Police Office Chauvin got 2 counts of murder and 1 count of manslaughter and got 252 months (which is 21 years), which wasn’t a lot because usually it will be a life sentence. One March 12, 2021, the city council in Minneapolis $27 million for the wrongful death.

Love and Hate crime:

This is a documentary TV show, where the offenders family or the victim’s family talk about their insight about what happened, and why did it happened and this documentary shows the real time events what is happening to them, as a sense of it shows the reality of these prisoners and shows how they like to be prejudice towards other people and the murderers kill their victims due to their appearance, sexual orientation, race , disability or their religion and this tv shows show different cases and their views and perspective about the crime that happened.
