The Masthead: The Masthead usually displays the newspaper name, price, date and slogan and in this case we see Daily Mirror typed in big, bold and white writing. This is an iconic name known to the United Kingdom with their well know slogan 'Fighting for you', this implies that the newspaper has the populations best interests at heart. The date of this issue is Monday 30th July 2018. IN the far right corner of the paper we see a sneak peak of what is to read in the newspaper, How to make your holiday stress free. This will intrigue the audience and encourage them to read on as they may be interested in the tips and tricks on how to be stress free on holiday.

The Headline: The headline on this front cover is 'Meghan's Dad: I took drugs' instantly this grabs the audiences attention as Meghan is part of the royal family now and therefore you wouldn't expect to see this title with a large picture of Meghan Markle and a smaller image of her father.

The Image: The image has a larger image of Meghan herself and a smaller one of her father. The picture of her father his facial expression makes has connotations of a mug shot, the medium close up and cropped. In the bigger image of Megan is made to look very natural and mid-conversation. Due to the large font of drugs and in capital letters and the image of Meghan which takes up one third of the page may indicates some first initial thoughts that Meghan may have been in contact with drugs and this may encourage sales and peoples interest. The images in the top right corner of a woman relaxing on the beach shows how to feel whilst your on holiday and shows what people could be like if they follow the ways that the newspaper has provided to have a stress free holiday.

Layout/Design: In this issue, this is the main and only story shown. Therefore takes up the whole pages, excluding the spaces for the masthead the whole page is covered with this story and images.Newspapers only do this usually when it is a huge story that will grab every ones attention and because of this this shows the shock and significance of the story. The layout seems to be very simple with not too much crowding the story which i also think show the importance of this story.

The Use of language/Mode of address: The whole page is covered up by the image of Meghan and her father but there are some sentences surrounding the images, such as 'revelation The Duchess Meghan left Dad Thomas' and ' Thomas admitted to doing drugs while raising his daughter Meghan as a teenager' then 'Full story on page 6&7' The first two short sentences shows little hints into the story, getting the readers interests. The simplicity of the front page of the paper is typical of a tabloid newspaper, this could imply that you don't need high levels of education to understand the story unlike broadsheets. Another point to prove this is the simple language, suggesting that that target a working class audience.
