This edition of Vanity Fair shows many of the conventions you would expect of a magazine of this genre. It uses typical taglines and tries to make them snappy with the use of alliteration with things like 'The bitter battle'. Uses a celebrity in Lady Gaga like many of the other magazines to gain attention of the reader and draw them in. Having 'EXCLUSIVE' on the cover to make the audience feel as though they are getting the latest gossip and are up to date.

Settings/Locations:

There is no location or setting with it just being a plain grey background blending in with the overall colour scheme to not take any attention away from Lady Gaga.

Representations:

Isn't any certain representations shown on the cover but Lady Gaga is part of the LGBT community so it could be considered that she is a proud representer of them.

Media Language:

Alliteration is used to make the headlines more snappy and emphasise what the 'bitter battle' was truly like and make it seem interesting.Taglines are used to inform the reader of the contents of the magazine. Lady Gaga is the only image on this cover and having her take up the majority of the cover shows that she is the centre of attention and is the biggest focus. Having a celebrity on the cover also gives it a seal of quality as though that the fact that she is part of it having had a photoshoot and interview with them.

Appeals to the target audience:

Lady Gaga is part of the demographic of the target audience of the magazine and the audience may feel s though they may be able to relate to her in some way. Also, the readers reading this magazine may feel as though they are able to stay relevant due to reading it.

The Vanity Fair website has 3 different categories, HIVE, HWD and VANITIES with HIVE being about business, tech and politics, HWD about movies, TV, awards and reviews and VANITIES being about celebrities, fashion. beauty and royals. There are also links to all of there social media pages so readers can keep up to date with them that way and join in the conversation. It features a range of different articles to choose from. It uses the simple black and white colour scheme like many other of the magazine websites. There are also other section for a newsletter, for video, a Vanity Fair store and a page about the actual magazine.
