Too Many Ads?

Advertisements are everywhere. From our phones, to our TV's, and even to our doorsteps. But as the media has became more insistent on reaching its audience, it has started to invade our streets, shops and historical buildings. Everywhere you turn, there's an advert waiting to tell you about the brand new deals, or the top-trend items you can buy. A lot of people don't mind this, and I have reason to understand why.

For example, many would look at this photo and hate what they see. The world becoming screens and blinding lights. And it's understandable. For New York to go from what it was in Home Alone, to a cluster of advertisements, it is sad to see. But, on the other hand, I would argue that these huge screens make New York what it is today. Of course, it's different to what it was, but New York is built off the profit that comes from all of these advertisements and their sales, as well as the prices paid to air them.

I would much prefer New York without, it would feel less oppressing and more natural, but it does add colour and life to the environment, even if that life is artificial. New York is visited by many across the country, it is known for all of these screens and just being a huge, wealthy city.

There definitely are far too many ads in New York, but it is what makes New York what it is today, and gives brands/ companies such a good opportunity to boost themselves and reach a massive audience.

This compares to everywhere, from that flyer you see on the street, to the huge screens on the roads. And it can be frustrating to see, but it is still necessary for our generation. Even though many of us prefer the environments without adverts, they are still what boost smaller companies, and can sometimes be the last resort for some to save businesses.

Overall, I would argue that it isn't pleasing to see this many adverts consuming the natural environments, however, they serve a useful purpose in progressing for companies and even musicians/ anyone wanting to make a name for themselves. And some advertisements can be effective positively on the area (like in New York).
