Vouge

Vogue is an American monthly fashion and lifestyle magazine covering many topics including fashion, beauty, culture, living, and runway based in New York City. Vogue began as a weekly newspaper, first published based in New York City in 1892 in the United States, before becoming a monthly publication years later. The British Vogue was the first international edition launched in 1916, while the Italian version Vogue Italia has been called the top fashion magazine in the world. As of today, there are 23 international editions.

Cover: very luxurious feel surrounding the elements of gold featured in the front cover through the masthead , the headings, the dress and Gigi Hadid's hair and makeup. All add to the exclusiveness of vouge. Gigi Hadid is a high profile fashion model so fits directly in with vouges image and reputation. The actual image itself if very simple yet effective and draws your eye to it. The fact that the title of vouge overlaps GIGIs face rather that the other way round is unconventional of magazines as they often want the star to be the main focus of a readers attention. However vouges intention is obviously to promote the magazine itself rather than the person on the cover. The heading on this cover are conventional to the fashion genre including things like “spring fashion issue” “15 looks to jumpstart your season “ Aswell as celeb and culture gossip. Going for a long time its trusted – suitable for a mainstreamer .

YouTube platform – vouge has utilized the platform of YouTube massively with a huge variety of videos all produced by the magazine. Interviews , tutorials and the famous 73 questions are all featured on the magazines YouTube channel and include a large amount of famous guests. Most videos are light-hearted however they also do a variety about the dark reality of the fashion industry like the video linked below. I love the concept of this video where it is in interview style however no questions are asked so it feels like a conversation between friends. This is a concept I would defiantly like to use for the audio visual aspect of my coursework- particularly on the topic of body image and mental health which is featured in this video.
