This magazine cover from WIRED feels very untypical of modern magazine covers, with a sheer lack of images making it stand out from other WIRED and other tech magazine companies’ magazines. Firstly, the use of the size of the copy that says, “The Web is dead.”, this enigma code is used to intrigue readers and make them want to understand more about why WIRED thinks that the Web is dead. Also, the use of the list at the top of the cover would make viewers interested as it gives them a slight glimpse of what they can expect to read throughout the magazine. Also, the use of copy “what happened” in black, and the copy that says “and why” in white may make it stand out to readers and may make them want to continue reading.

Due to this, I would assume that the majority of WIRED’s audience are part of the explorer type in the 4C’s model. On WIRED’s online website, you may see today’s picks and a most recent column, in these columns you can expect to see stories that are dedicated to breaking news and developments in the fields of technology, science, and related industries. As well as this, some of the news that WIRED shares are general articles surrounding current affairs in the media. Also, at the bottom of each article, you may see icons for social media platforms such as Twitter and Tumblr, where WIRED also share these stories, these social media platforms being a place for viewers of the brand to engage in each others opinions and debates on the relevant stories that WIRED are publishing on their online website and on their social media accounts.
