Audiance Appeals MD week 2

Updated: Jan 6, 2020

The poster for Martin Scorsese's the Irishman apeals directly to it's target audience. It's target audience is clearly the fans of Scorsese's previous films Goodfellas and Casino. Both are maffia films featuring Robert DeNiro and Joe Pschi as mobsters. This appeals to the need for sucurity. It's layout is cearfuly done to emphasize different members of the key cast in different ways. The centre features DeNiro prominently. This ensures he is the centre of audiance attention and is the main star of the film. To his right Al Pacino faces him directly. This forshadows how his character Jimmy Hoffa will be at ods with the other 2 main characters, he is given second billing behind DeNiro. He is also the smallest on the poster forshadowing to the audience that he is the least powerful of the 3 in the film. To DeNiro's right we see Joe Pesci. He is in the foreground of the poster implying him to be the most powerful character of the film. Pechi is also in the foreground to emphasize his return to acting after 20 years. It is a big drawing point for the film and apeals to a need for nostalgia to the days of goodfellas and Casino. Pacino's placement could also relate to this as this will be his first collaboration with Martian Scorsese, hence why he is smaller than the 2 Scorsese veterans.

Facebook uses the gratification model to allow a platform to users a platform to express views on many topical issues. It also allows others to compliment there work/opinions/photos. Facebook's design is highly minimal and simplistic with a basic white text in lowercase over a solid blue background. The use of simple non intimidating primary colours along with the lowercase font makes the site appear more unintimidating and welcoming to all, drawing in many customers/users to the platform.
