In this ‘Mean Girls’ film advert poster, Lindsay Lohan is posed as the main focus being more at the front of the poster whilst the three models are posed in the background which immediately reveals to the audience that Lindsay plays the main character in the film whilst the other three play still significant side characters. Additionally to this, the three characters (Regina, Karen and Gretchen) are styled in a preppy and girly fashion, wearing mainly varied shades of pink and all in skirts, connoting femininity which plays a large role in the film also suggested by its name using the word ‘Girls’ whilst on the other hand Lindsay's character (Cady) is seen wearing red, a colour which stands out from the monochromatic colour scheme in the advert, and jeans which highlights her differences to the three characters. This may appeal to audiences who resonate with the ‘Mainstream’ type of 4C’s consumer due to the use of a cliché and simple storyline that may be more familiar. The girl's body language also creates a negative perception of the girls as they are standing intimidatingly with straight facial expressions in comparison to Cady who is standing more closed off. This causes the audience to immediately identify that they are somewhat the antagonists.
The advert also uses typography in order to emphasise the films main subject by using a more bold, eye-catching font for the word ‘Mean’ in ‘Mean Girls’. This clearly demonstrates the genre of the film, being aimed at a teenage female audience and having elements of comedy due to the irony of the title, painting itself as a potentially a rom-com.
In 2013, Galaxy used CGI to create a version of Audrey Hepburn in their tv advert promoting their chocolate bar. Galaxy used CGI rather than any other celebrity in order to promote their ‘Why have cotton when you can have silk?’ tagline when describing their chocolate, this was due to the fact that Audrey Hepburn is associated with glamour and elegance which would therefore associate the brand with the same feel. The fact that Audrey Hepburn is seen eating the chocolate will therefore entice audiences who resonate with one of the 4C’s model such as ‘The Aspirer’ who may feel the need to imitate glamorous celebrities similar to Audrey Hepburn in order to uphold their materialistic traits and their status which Galaxy may specifically aim their chocolate towards. The advert additionally uses a range of wide shots, showing the landscape of Italy and it’s beauty, creating a calming and luxury atmosphere for the advert. This atmosphere is highlighted when in sync with the rest of the advert, such as the soft background music that sounds like its from the 50’s similar to Audrey Hepburn which may appeal to a more older audience through its nostalgic feel.
