Back to the future

Back to the Future Two is the third movie in the Back to the Future trilogy. This movie came out in 1989, however the three movies were released from 1985 to 1990. The movie stars roles are Michael J Fox and Christopher Lloyd who can be seen in the face of this movie poster.

From the poster itself, prior knowledge and even the title shows that this movie is a science fiction movie. Even though science fiction types of movies are commonly associated with being ‘nerdy’ or ‘geeky’ and male, it does not mean that the movie will only be targeted and loved by men only as there seems to be a social construct of women cannot be ‘nerdy.’

Looking at the leading stars who are shown in the movie's poster, males could be more inclined to watch these movies as having the leading stars as your gender could mean you can relate more to the character as consumers of any media however especially television, we like to be able to relate with the people and themes of the movie or tv show to us and our lives.

Nevertheless, it is clear there is no specific age category, and I would even say it is a family movie to watch as the PG rating makes the movie accessible for all ages to enjoy and therefore does not limit or even suggest there is a defined age category. Aswell as PG rated movies are associated with movies that families watch together, and families will recognise Christpher Llyod and Michael J fox from other movies and that could appeal to them.

Moreover, I think this could perhaps be a movie appeal for the explorer as science fiction is not widely known and enjoyed unlike the genre comedy for example. Therefore, if people where to seek out new genres of movie science fiction would perhaps be one, they would consider looking into it.

Judging by the movie poster, the lack of female representation on the poster could possibly repel some female audiences at a first glance. Although there's only 2 main characters in the main view of the poster, some female audiences would question if they would be represented in the movie, and therefore they would take an oppositional reading.
