The Oprah magazine was first published on April 19th, 2000. The magazine is created by celebrity talk-show host Oprah Winfrey and published by Hearst Magazines. Through a use of motivational stories, inspirational quotes, book reviews and intimate celebrity interviews. It was recognised by many, and her target audience is mainly dominated by young adult women as she is known as an American talk show host, television producer, actress, author, and media proprietor. For Young and Rubicam’s 4C’s I think that this magazine relates to the mainstreamer most because there are the people who live in the world of the domestic and every day. They are also the largest group in society and respond to established brands. Another 4C that this piece of media can relate to is the Aspirer as they are materialistic, acquisitive people, who are driven by others’ perceptions of them rather than their own values. They look for image, appearance, persona, charisma and fashion and their main need in life is status.
The first reading of the audience for this magazine cover is that it has a high female target audience for many reasons. The first one being the large title of ‘let's talk about hair’
which captures the audience's eye not only because of the text but because of Oprah’s hair covering a lot of the cover.
