Michael B Jordan magazine cover analysis

The target audience for this magazine cover would be men around the age of 30-50 who are looking to improve their health and fitness habits. They would most likely be a middle class man that has an office job with an average income and are trying to adapt a different lifestyle. In terms of the 4C's, these people would be aspirers who are driven by other peoples perception of them rather than by their own values. This is because this magazine is overall centered around bettering your appearance and image and doing it as quickly as possible.

There are various aspects to this magazine cover which would appeal to the men reading it. Firstly, taking up most of the space on the page is Michael B Jordan who is a famous, extremely recognizable celebrity. As he is a known and popular man, the men reading this would see him as a role model that they aspire to be like, both in terms of looks, status and personality. Furthermore, MBJ has his strong, toned arms out and on display, demonstrating what can be achieved and this is shown with the caption ''Bigger arms in one easy move''. Gaining muscle being described as an 'easy move' would encourage the audience that getting fit and healthy is very much possible and can definitely be done without an overwhelming amount of effort.

Also on this magazine cover one of the most noticeable parts is the writing that states ''Fit at any age'', followed by, ''How to be stronger and smarter at 30, 40, 50 and 60+''. This would be a source of encouragement for the older men reading this as they are not discouraged or disadvantaged by their age. This is also supported by MBJ body position and facial expression as it makes him look like he is ready to train and help people, again reinforcing his role model status.

Finally, on this cover it says ''The new normal anxiety, how to crush it''. This says to men reading this magazine that it is okay to express their emotions and deal with both bad mental and physical health. Therefore, the ideologies of this magazine cover are that fitness can be achieved in men with not too much struggle and in a short amount of time. Additionally, looking good can achieve you status and age is not a barrier to success. The preferred reading of this is that the audience align with these ideologies and want to give what is encouraged a try.
