The music video for harvest moon starts with 10 establishing shots to show they are in a mountain house restaurant and bar, in these establishing shots it also shows a harvest moon referring to the song title. It then cuts to them inside the bar with shots jumping from Neil Young dancing with his wife and then him singing and playing guitar on stage.
This music video is a hybrid of narrative and performance as it is a performance when Neil is both singing and dancing but It also shows a story of him and his wife. After the scene in the bar is done it cuts to the same bar but with different actors that are supposed to show Neil and his wife when they were younger this is to show their love hasn’t died this is also shown with the song lyric ‘because I’m still in love with you’.
