The Bear and the Hare-John Lewis 2013

Big companies like John Lewis, M&S and even Aldi are competing to be the best Christmas adverts. Over the years Christmas adverts have increasingly grown to the ex stream, they all talked about from the beginning of November to the end of December and they get bigger and bigger every year. The 2013 Christmas John Lewis advert is one to remember. The cover of Kean's 2004 single 'Somewhere Only We Know' was covered by Lilly Allen, the heart-warming song played with our emotions as the bare is woken up just in time for Christmas to experience the Christmas magic. The well-known song made it more memorable and in fact we heard the song everywhere as it became a hit in the music chart therefore the song was played on the radio reminding us of the advert. According to the Telegraph John Lewis stated "We wanted our advert to reflect the importance of finding the right gift for loved ones" and the advert certainly worked as sales increase by 6.9%. The animated advert appealed to most audiences of many ages, kids and adults loved the story being told. The release of merchandise associated with the advert sold out, there was nightwear and teddies released and all kids wanted them.

Another advert to remember is the classic Coca-cola advert. The famous red truck driving through towns spreading Christmas cheer. The Coca-cola truck was made in 1955, the illuminated lorries are made to be enchanting. When we hear the song ' Holidays are coming' we instantly think of the Coca-cola advert and that shows how iconic it is. Every year the famous truck tours around the country handing out free cans of coke and it is there for people to get pictures with, this is a great marketing element for people to form a connection with the brand. The same advert is shown every year and now its became a tradition that we expect from them.
